YAY! We are SUPER excited to finally share with you Blanc’s new & improved look!
We have recently teamed up with Lana at Salty Design Studios to bring our visions to life and give Blanc the ultimate refreshed look. We are absolutely in love with how it turned out, and wanted to create this blog so you can see our reasons as to why we’ve rebranded, our journey to where we are now & where Blanc is headed too in the future.
So, first things first… why the change?
Well, as we are sure you are all well aware, Blanc underwent some drastic, exciting changes in 2020. Those changes all were a part of our transition in becoming a sustainable, eco-friendly salon! (YAY)
Personally, making sustainable choices in day-to-day life is something that we are extremely passionate about, so being able to make the switch for our business has been a very exciting journey. We believe strongly that its about doing what you can, where you can to help make a difference, and thankfully there are many amazing, like-minded companies that are helping small salons like us do the shift.
In September 2020, we officially became a sustainable salon by partnering with Sustainable Salons Australia & New Zealand. This means we now recycle 95% of our salons waste, keeping it in circulation and out of landfill. Co-aligning with this, another major change for us in September was our switch to O&M’s Clean CØR Colours which are Ammonia, PPD and Resorcinol-free. These ingredients are harmful to us humans as well as the health of our wildlife and the environment, so shifting over to these new colours was a crucial step for us on our way to becoming an environmentally friendly salon.
During these major changes we have also changed our cleaning products to Zero Co, which is an Australian company that is dedicated to eliminating single-use plastics whilst creating natural, vegan & grey water safe cleaning products, and our toilet paper (and paper towel) to Who Gives A Crap (WGAC). WGAC is another Australian company that create sustainable toilet paper that also donate 50% of their profits to build toilets & improve sanitation in developing countries. Be sure to keep an eye out for a future blog post where we will chat more about these amazing companies & how we operate as a sustainable salon.
So, overall 2020 was a big year for us in terms of change & redirecting our salon to align with our personal values. Refreshing our branding to reflect our new journey as a sustainable salon came naturally (pun intended), as we believe that your brand is your identity. Our mission is to create dreamy hair without the cost of the environment, and so we wanted our branding to reflect this.
So… what changes can you expect to see as part of Blanc’s new look?
This is the fun part! With this now being our third time rebranding over the (nearly) 10 years of Blanc – we went all out! You can expect to see…
- New logo & colour scheme on our social media
- New business cards that will be printed on 100% recycled paper
- New & improved website & online store
- New signage for our salon – which is on its way! Keep your eyes peeled!
- More inventive ways for us to become even more sustainable & eco-friendly!
And don’t worry! Our beautiful team isn’t going anywhere (even our cheesy dad jokes are here to stay). We will all still be here at our little salon tucked away in the leafy suburb of New Lambton.
We are still growing, learning & experimenting with new ways to become more sustainable & eco-friendly, and are excited to see what our next steps will be.
Here is a list of our future goals (and growing) that we’d love to tick off to become an even more environmentally friendly salon:
- Get our own compost bin for our food scraps
- Stock a range of locally made loose leaf teas to skip the tea bags
- All of our products to be grey water safe free from any unnecessary nasties
- More plants in the salon
We have some big goals for our little salon, and we can’t wait to see what the future holds for us. And as creatives, we love change! It is refreshing for us to be open to change and invite new things, constantly growing & moving forward. We are so thrilled to be on this new journey and even more so to bring you along with us too.
A very special thanks to the brains behind the mission – Lana from Salty Design Studios!
Lana is the creative genius behind the refresh of Blanc. We initially reached out with a rough idea of what we wanted in terms of what we liked and what we didn’t like, as well as the direction our salon was/is heading to, and Lana worked her magic and brought it to life! Connecting with Lana has made the entire process stress free and exciting for us – and considering this isn’t our first rodeo when it comes to rebranding (third times a charm), we could not recommend enough! So if you’re thinking your business also needs a refresh – definitely reach out to Lana & team at Salty Design Studios. We highly recommend!
We can’t wait to show you more along the way as we develop & grow as a sustainable salon! And we hope you are just as excited as us with all of these fun & exciting changes. Stay tuned for future blog posts where will go more in depth on what we do to minimise our carbon footprint & other ways you can help too! See you all very soon.
Love always, The Blanc Girls x
